I loved Educated (and anything about the worst corners of extremist Christianity), so So Far Gone sounds like an interesting comparison. It made me think too of Gloria Patri (https://malarkeybooks.com/gloria-patri), which if I remember right also makes it way to a scary Idaho compound.

So Far Gone by Jess Walter is set in the PNW and very much feels like it. Would be interesting to pair it with Educated by Tara Westover.
